There Are Counsellors Who Can Help

When you think about meeting with a counsellor, you might think about meeting with a marriage counsellor or a counsellor who specializes in helping people who have anxiety. However, there are counsellors out there who have training and experience in helping people with lots of different problems. For example, there are even counsellors out there who regularly work with amputees and others in similar situations. You may want to ask your doctor for a recommendation about a good counsellor to meet with since they might be able to provide a recommendation of someone with this experience. You Might Be Suffering From Depression

If you are suffering from depression after having a leg amputated, then you should know that this is completely normal. You do not have to suffer from this depression on your own, however. There are counsellors out there who can talk to you about your depression and who can help you learn coping strategies and ways to deal with the feelings that you're dealing with. They can also lend an ear when you feel like talking. As an amputee, you might feel as if a lot of the people who you know and who you meet don't know very much about what you are going through. You could be interested in group therapy or counselling sessions with other amputees, which is something that a good counsellor might be able to help you find or arrange.
